Assessment of spatial and temporal variability of groundwater level in the aquifer system on the flanks of Mount Meru, Northern Tanzania

Mount Meru located in Northern Tanzania. Groundwater level monitoring is essential for uncovering the spatial-temporal variation of groundwater levels a studied aquifer, helping discussions on sustainable use and management resources. This study analyses spatial temporal variability shallow aquifer system flanks Meru. Time series analysis measurements obtained two hydrologic years: 2018–2019 2019–2020 applied. On north-eastern flank Meru, at Ngarenanyuki, there rise about 1.80 m between static water April 2018 December 2020 whereas western flank, Mamsa, decrease 0.50 May this can be attributed to low/reduced recharge (due very low hydraulic conductivity semi-confined condition aquifer), or exploitation. Hence, current pumping practices should restrained management.
